A piece of the mortgage action.

Depending on where you're purchasing your home, the provincial or municipal government may charge you to transfer the property ownership.

Land Transfer Taxes (LTTs) and Title Fees are part of the home-purchase closing costs you'll need to budget for — and be aware that your purchase deal may fall through if you don't have the funds to cover them.

These taxes or title fees usually range from 0.5% to 3% of the total value of the home.

Many provinces have multi-tiered taxation systems that can prove complicated, with different percentages charged as the home price climbs. Use the calculator above for your area, and scroll to see the breakdown.
